What a year we had in 2012! I finally finished my PhD and got back into Tai Chi and running, Tom continued saving the world one kilowatt at a time in Westminster and his art became a hot Denver commodity. We said a bittersweet goodbye to Bayla the cat, and adopted our new dog Frankie Van Gogh. We painted the house, took several road trips, won a food fight, planted plenty of sunflowers, biked the greenways, celebrated births and weddings, and continued settling into Colorado life.
2013 promises to be just as lovely! January started us off in all the right ways:
Tony and Jim
Denver Botanic Gardens Lights
Tom's brother Jim and our nephew Tony traveled to Denver to spend New Year's Eve with us. We toured the Denver Botanical Garden's light show, had a cut throat Yahtzee tournament, watched a few downtown fireworks from our roof, and debated the meaning of life. Whew!
Tom and I also jumped on the cross country skiing bandwagon and had a great time at Snow Mountain the next weekend. I am now officially a fan of snow. Who knew it could be this fun at 10 degrees?!
Tom's parents, Babs and Wally, visited too and the four of us took a gorgeous 7 hour train ride from Denver to Grand Junction. We spent the weekend at the Grand Mesa National Park and visiting with Tony at Mesa State.
Hanging out with Tony at Mesa State
Visiting the Grand Mesa Tourist Center
Tony's snow angel
Grand Mesa-miles of gorgeous terrain!
Our view from the Vista car on Amtrak. Amazing!
We hope you are having a great start to the new year, too! It's snowing outside, the Winter Fund Drive for NPR is blasting through the radio and I'm on my way to the stove to make a cup of hot tea. Keep warm and keep in touch! Much love to you all-
Tom and Rebecca
